A Secret Crush (well…it was until now!)

This post was actually scheduled for this past Friday but, after Thursday’s sad subject, I thought I needed something a little more lighthearted.  So I’m putting it up today.  It still kind of fits the romance theme…

I’ve had a crush on Keifer Sutherland for years.  From the first time I saw an old movie called Flatliners (which, frankly, scared the heck out of me).  Then the Three Musketeers.    And, finally, had to love Jack Bauer in 24.

Oops.  Let’s not forget the voice on the other end of the line in Phone Booth, which was a fantastic movie…if you could get past the excessive foul language used by Colin Farrell.  I highly recommend it…but only if you can watch it on a network where they do some serious audio editing.

But yeah, I love Mr. Sutherland.  I think he’s sexy…and I could listen to him talk forever.  He also appears to be a very good sport in this, another favorite video of mine…

And now for the mash up.  Here are my favorite blogs from last week:

Shelly Immel has a great website called The Big Life Project.  There she challenges us to ‘focus on leading a richer, more meaningful life.’  This week she offers a video interview with Cynthia Morris,  a writer, creativity coach and mentor who shares with us some suggestions for living a happier life (even if you’re not a writer).

A new favorite blog is ‘Jenny Beans, the madcap adventures of a single woman who went to the bank to become a mommy.’  I read this post and giggled about Grandma and the 911 calls for days!

Debra Kristi came through with flying colors in her post about Edward Cullen, Sparkling Prince or Creepy Stalker.  She even has a couple of fun polls at the end.  Being a Twilight series lover (yes, I’ll probably have to locate a recovering Twilaholics group somewhere), this was definitely one of my favorites this week.

And, finally, Karen Pokras Toz shares with us that emails aren’t always what they seem.  Or that you shouldn’t judge them by the few words that show up when you get one, because what might seem like a less than complimentary email could be a really good one in disguise.

One final thought today…  Remember, only 33 shopping days until Christmas.  Time to mortgage the house!  Time to have a rummage sale! (brr!!!)  Time to find that genie in a bottle or win the lottery!  🙂

  1. Okay, you have totally put me in a panic now since I haven’t bought a single gift! Eek! Thanks for including me. Woo Hoo!

I totally remember that episode with Kiefer. That was a hoot when he did that. Hubs and I watch the full run of 24.

  2. I loved your blog about Edward. I’d like to see you do one about Charlie though. Even though I say I’m Team Jacob (and I am), I feel like less of a pedophile because I like Charlie better.

I’m going to have to buy the 24 DVD’s. I missed the first couple of seasons because I thought it would be canceled. Usually anything I like is off the air fairly quickly. I missed the first season of The West Wing for that reason, too. Those are on my list of series to get. Fortunately I’ll forget that thought when I wake up today, saving a boatload of money that I can spend on Christmas gifts. 🙂

And yes…Keifer was a hoot in a dress. Thank goodness he doesn’t wear them very often (mostly because that was an ugly dress!) 🙂

    • That was an ugly dress!

I was sick in bed for a week or more when both of my kidneys got infected. My husband bought all the seasons of 24 that they had at the time and I boned up on the series. Great times! – Not. LOL

I can’t really cover Charlie because there’s nothing immortal about him. But there are several juicy pics of Jacob on Jillian’s blog this week. I’m just sayin’

      • Well that doesn’t sound like any fun at all. Although it could have been worse, depending on his choice of DVD’s. 🙂

The dress might have looked nice on a woman wearing the right accessories. I can’t imagine it, but that’s mostly because I’m not fond of the color at all.

As far as Charlie goes, you COULD write something about what it must be like to be the father of an immortal. And what it was like to watch his daughter’s best (and male) friend strip in front of him in the woods.

I’ll have to check out those pictures of Jacob before I head to bed. I’ll worry about NOT drooling over a teenager tomorrow. 🙂

  3. LOL, you should do a montage of stars being interviewed in drag, Kristy. Lots of laughs to be had there!

Thanks for the shout out to The Big Life Project! I loved what Cynthia said about savoring the senses, loving herself better, and the “normal” creative person and process. And I always look forward to your comments on my blog!

  4. Hmm….I never thought to check for other videos like that. Great idea! Sometimes I think my favorite thing in life is to laugh (outside of the people I love and care about, of course).

And you’re welcome. You know I love The Big Life Project. It is so consistently positive that I can’t imagine anyone who could only visit it once. I hope others will watch that interview with Cynthia…it was very inspiring.

Now I’m off to tackle a formatting issue. Along with my septic tank jinx (or curse), weird formatting problems have been plaguing me lately. I’m about to borrow a machine gun, take Word 2007 outside and shoot it. 🙂

    • Oh, Kristy, take a video of THAT. Back it with a good rap song like the printer destruction scene from Office Space, and “Romance Writer Mows Down MS Word” will go viral for sure.

      • LOL…I might just do that. If I could borrow a machine gun. Or, at the very least, one of my brothers’ rifles. Except the one time I did shoot a rifle didn’t work out so well for me. I was about 16, my baby brother was 13…and told me to hold it with the butt of the gun about 3″ from my shoulder…oh, and don’t worry, Kristy, it’s not as loud when you’re HOLDING the gun as it is when you’re standing beside someone SHOOTING the gun. Uh-huh. He knew a sucker when he saw one. Thought I broke my shoulder…and wondered if I’d ever hear out of my right ear again, LOL!

Maybe I’ll just run over Word 2007 with my car… 🙂

That video is a riot! He’s still cute, even in a dress! And thanks for the mashup.

    • He is, isn’t he? When I’m not watching funny, or music, videos on YouTube, the odds are good that I’m watching Kiefer Sutherland interviews. Gotta say though, that the only other time I’ve seen a dress and boots like that together were on my 4′ 11″ inch mom…the year she was wearing a pretty dress for her birthday…and my dad bought her motorcycle boots, which she had to try on immediately. We have a picture of that, and I have to say she pulled the look off a little better than Kiefer. But she had nylons on, too. 🙂

  6. Kristi! Keifer Sutherland still looks sexy, even in a dress!!!

Glad I could make you laugh–I’ve been a bit of a rotten blogger lately. Life has been insane, and I can’t keep up with everything churning in my head.

    XOXO, Jenny

    • Kiefer Sutherland would look sexy no matter what he wore. And he did in that dress…but I still don’t like the dress. 🙂

Trust me, you did make me laugh. I can imagine the desperation in the officers voice when he asked your aunt for help. Too funny! And I understand the blogging thing. Some days it’s a challenge with life and everything that goes on. Sometimes I’m really scrambling at the last minute to stay on my self-imposed schedule. 🙂
