Part of the reason NaNoWriMo works for so many people, is that we can see, through their counter, how we’re progressing. I don’t have a clue how they get that thing to work, but as long as the group doesn’t get huge, I thought people could post their daily totals in the comments section on this page. Then once a week I can total them up, record them below (I’ll delete the comments – because if I don’t, it could wind up being about ten miles long) 🙂
So who is joining us for our first annual February writing challenge? Hopefully this will help enough that we’ll continue throughout the year…April, June, August, and maybe October, but that’s really close to NaNo (National Novel Writing Month), and we’ll need some time to plot out the novels we want to write for that event.
Rules? There are no rules. Set your monthly goal at the level that’s comfortable – and doable for you…whether it’s 1,000 words, or 50,000. And then just check in here with your word counts. If it helps, you can announce it on your blog, website, Facebook and Twitter, too.
The more public our goals, the more likely we are to achieve them.
One last thing, if you don’t have Tweetdeck yet, you might check it out. That’s where I became acquainted with the #wordmongering crowd. They really help keep me on track with 30 minute (or shorter…or longer) writing challenges. For some reason it helps to know I’m ‘working’ with others.
So anyway…I wanted to get this up yesterday…and did not. But, better late than never. Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time to start writing.
